Torre Iberdrola (Bilbao)

Designed by the architect Cesar Pelli and launched on March 19, 2007, the Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao is a skyscraper of 165 meters that will house offices, most of Iberdrola. Iberdrola thus move its headquarters, currently located in the street No. 8 Cardinal Gardoqui.

The building has a total of 41 plants, occupying an area of 50,000 square meters and 4,800 units using glass coating designed exclusively for the Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao. As anecdotal details, Torre Iberdrola has its own heliport and a Fire Service due to the size of the building.

The date of completion of construction of the Torre Iberdrola is estimated for August 2011.

 Catedral de Santiago en Bilbao

The Cathedral of Santiago's name comes from existing Jacobean culture predates the founding of Bilbao. As early settlement charter founding the town in 1300, records the existence of the shrine of Santiago, located in the Jacobean route of the Coast. The initial chapel, prior to the eleventh century, is the first religious building predates the founding of Bilbao.

The present church was built in the fourteenth century, but is cited as the reference year 1379 and since that date the data from the cathedral and are more accurate. It is in 1643 when the Holy See confirms the Church. In 1819 he was consecrated as a basilica and in 1950 attained the rank of Cathedral.

Although the Church was to be Gothic, slow in its construction made this Gothic style which was initially going to have French influences, finished with a blend of styles.

- Third door located on Calle E, known as Angel's door or door of the Pilgrims. The name comes from Jacobean symbol located on the door and greeted the pilgrims who came way to Compostela. The door, a Gothic structure, is decorated Plateresque-Elizabethan and ornamentation of the last Gothic period.

Indeed, the Angel door connects to the cloister, from the early sixteenth century Gothic cloister and only preserved in Vizcaya, together with the convent of San Francisco de Bermeo. The choir also has its own characteristics, and that is not located in the central part, as is usual in Gothic churches. In the last restoration in 2002, was installed a new body of 2,260 classic Nordic tubes, named Jesus Guridi composer, who was the organist of the church of Santiago between 1918 and 1939.

The liturgical furnishings and original jewelry can be seen in the Museum of Sacred Art.

The French work of Daniel Buren, entitled Arcos Rojos, covered with a bright red coating the pillars of hanging straps that hold the bridge, forming an arc. The play wins more striking at night, thanks to dynamic lighting systems.

On the street we access Mazarredo Albia gardens . Albia's name comes from a small hill located at the top of Larraskitu. There, in a small square shaded by beech trees, was celebrated on Sunday a pilgrimage to the mountaineers of Abando. Albia, as it seems, means "on the side." When the procession moved to Abandoibarra, youth Albia Bilbao started calling the place of pilgrimage, the current location of the park.

Designed by Ricardo Bastida and Juan de Egiraun in 1920, the Doña Casilda Park stretches from the Place of the Sacred Heart to the Museum of Fine Arts, with spacious lawns and lush trees along which walks, paths and ponds as well as monuments such as the popular clown effigy Tonetti.

Doña Casilda Park has more than 1500 plant species, from among which 486 specimens of exotic trees from five continents. However, no shortage of poplar trees, bananas and limes.

The statue of Don Diego López de Haro was held in Rome on 1889 of the hands of the Valencian sculptor Mariano Benlliure. The statue, 4 feet high, had to be moved by the piece.
